Letter to Your Friend on Reasons You Changed School

Points to Note

1. This is an informal letter, therefore, the rules of writing informal letters will apply.

2. The minimum word count for a WAEC essay or letter is 450 words. One side of an answer sheet accommodates about 150 words for an average handwriting, so you need to write up to 3 sides to achieve the minimum word count.

3. Pay attention to punctuation. If you are going to use punctuation in the address endeavor to apply to all; don’t jump one line and continue with the next.

4. Remember the important aspects of your writing; you must start with an introduction, the middle part (body which will contain the points you are making), and a conclusion. This is very important!

                                                                                      Ambassadors High School
Jos
Plateau State

Dear Roshan,

How are you? How are your parents and sister, Naomi? I hope they are well.

I am sure you have been wondering why you have not been seeing me in school. The reason is because I have transferred to another school. The name of my new school is Ambassadors High School. It is located in Jos North local government area of Plateau State. The school is very large with a student population of nearly one thousand students, as the principal of the school announced last week when the school celebrated its fifteenth anniversary.

The school has both a junior secondary school and senior secondary school section. And that is one of the reasons why I had to change from our school to this present one. As you know, our school does not have a senior secondary section, so my parents decided it would be better to change to a school with a senior secondary section now, rather than wait till we graduated from junior secondary school next year.

Another reason why I went to another school is because my father was transferred to the headquarters of their organisation which is located in Jos North local government. My former house is far from my father's new office, so he decided to move our family to a new home close to his place of work.

My parents changed the former school because it did not have opportunities for me to practice my athletics. You know I like running and you and many of our friends have commented on how fast. My present school has excellent sports facilities and coaches. The athletic students are often invited to national competitions. My mother and father are happy for me to go to this school because it will give me a lot of opportunities at improving my sports attempts.

I miss you, Franca, Washima, and our other friends. But the good news is that we have our parents' phones and the internet to keep in touch. Besides, we are still in the same state and I know I can convince my father to let me visit my friends.

Until then, take care of yourself and say hello to Naomi, Franca and Washima.

Best regards.
Your friend,
Doris.
