Much misconception and stigma are attached to the Sickle Cell Disease. And to confuse matters further, new findings are made every day on the nature, variants, and occurrence of this life-long illness.
Sickle Cell Disease is still common in many areas around the world. Each year, the number of children born with the disease, especially in developing countries, are not significantly reduced.
A lot of factors are responsible for the lack of progress made in preventing new births of babies afflicted with Sickle Cell Disease.
Some of these factors include religion, ignorance, and general lack of knowledge as to the origins and causation of the illness, and traditional beliefs.
Creating awareness through educating the public is one of the means by which Sickle Cell Disease can be better understood by all and sundry.
That is the aim of this questionnaire/survey. Participants will answer questions related to their knowledge of Sickle Cell Disease, among others.
Data collated will help in throwing more light on how this disease is viewed and managed by both patients and non-patients.
